Several of his original television pilots have been recognized with honors in screenwriting competitions, including a Top 50 placement in the 2023 Launch Pad Tv Pilot Competition for his comedy "New Hires", a Finalist placement in the Austin Comedy Film Festival for his spec of the HBO comedy "Our Flag Means Death", and a Finalist placement in the Chicago Screenplay Awards for his comedy "Sasquatch Season."

John's decade-long career in communications and media relations has included a four-year tenure as a senior PR representative of a Fortune 500 company, primarily managing PR and communications related to the company's technology initiatives. He most recently served as Head of Public Relations & Executive Communications for a technology startup based in Barcelona.

In his professional life, he takes pride in crafting poignant, melodious statements such as, "While we’re not prioritizing profitability as we scale, we’ll continue to focus on keeping a healthy runway and predictable ROI." He is known around the water cooler as the Geppetto of corporate comms for the way he imbues wooden, lifeless B2B SaaS prose with vitality and whimsy.

John holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing from Bryant University, and is a graduate of the UCLA Professional Program for Screenwriting.
